i miss this time last year .. it was almost like a dream
from proms to concerts to graduations

freshman year
has been all in all amazing.
and the funny thing is, i probably didn't get one thing that i really wanted.
i really had to fight for a lot these past two semesters and even though people may not have noticed it, i really went through a lot and i still am.
the reason why my freshman year was still amazing is because i matured into basically a different person. I have learned how to deal with some many different situations and people. I have personally seen my growth from just last summer till now and it is probably one of the most amazing feelings I have ever felt.
but what makes this feel even better is the fact that other people have seen my growth and are so proud of me for accomplishing and dealing with the things that i have dealt with.

by no means am i perfect
i am still learning and making mistakes every single day.
however i can say that I am completely 100% a better person than what I was a year ago and to me that makes everything worth while.

phil the agony is my cousin (jason smith), he lives in LA and he just recently got signed with kweli, he started off with xzibit. he's in a group called strong arm steady .. but also has his own CD.

i think this summer im gonna start bumpin phil a little harder, damn i need to go back to LA so bad, i miss it.

What do you think about your face?

I think my face looks good. I think it looks mature, young - maybe a little rebellious. It looks like it’s a little eager for something. Like if I saw a picture of myself, and I didn’t know who the person on the picture was, I would think that this guy has really got a goal. And so probably I’d like to look a little bit like myself.

I’m an average person, but I don’t have an average look. Even black people around my age and size… I’ve never really seen anybody who looked anything like me. I’ve got that 21st century look to me. I’m only 23. At the same time I’ve got a loooong beard like an old man, but I keep it shaved – there isn’t any grey in my beard, and I’m not loosing any hair anywhere. Normally when I have my hair out females go crazy for me. I can’t help it. God made me like that, I guess, and that’s another reason why I figure my attitude is not average. When a lot of the people that I feel are average get attention like that they turn a little arrogant. See me, I don’t get ahead of myself. Because I always know that it isn’t me who made

What do you think about your face?

Essentially I would say I have made a drastic change the last three years. Age caught up with me. Good times caught up with me. Wild parties caught up with me. And what I see now is a truly aging woman. I no longer see the spontaneous, witty, charming… I see an elderly woman. And I find that difficult, but in a way very freeing. I don’t have to be the life of the party anymore, and I can talk to charming people like you and not have to feel that I have to flirt with you. I’m much, much freer although considerably sadder getting old.

I’m a writer, and I’ve been a writer through all sorts of times. Journalism and creative magazines, news etc. It’s very difficult for me to sit back and watch as opposed to be the active force. And yet I think that if I stick it out I will discover a way of aging that involves anything that is different from doing crossword puzzles. Keep your mind active, you know? I got fit with gym, but I can’t do that anymore, and I don’t want to pretend.

what i'll be sippin on

Ingredients:
3 pounds strawberries, hulled and coarsely chopped
2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons citrus vodka
1/4 cup fresh lime juice
Ice
1/3 cup chilled Riesling


Directions:

1. In a bowl, toss the strawberries with the sugar and let stand, stirring occasionally, until the strawberries release their juices, about 10 minutes.
2. In a blender, combine half each of the strawberries and their juices, the vodka, and lime juice with 1 cup of ice and puree. Pour into a pitcher. Repeat with the remaining strawberries and juices, vodka, and lime juice and 1 more cup of ice.*
3. Fill 10 collins glasses halfway with ice. Pour the cocktail into the glasses, top each with about 1/2 tablespoon of Riesling and serve.

this fruity concoction is light, refreshing, and easy drinking. The pureness of sweet strawberries is the defining flavor, but fresh lime juice provides a balancing tartness. Because the vodka is not overpowering, it's the perfect cocktail to enjoy on a hot day. If strawberries are in season at your farmers market, I strongly suggest you give this drink a try.
