unfortunately ladies, one thing you have to always remember is that men lie. not to say all men lie, but in most cases they do .. its just one of those things that you cant do anything about.
just always do you and watch your back at all times.

why men choose to lie to us (found on cosmogirl):
they dont like being wrong
If there's one thing every girl should know about guys, it's that there wrong — a lot. But they would much rather insist that their shortcut to your house is 15 minutes faster (even after you clock us in 15 minutes late) than admit that their off base. They have egos, and they stop at nothing to keep them intact!
they dont want to tell you
Believe it or not, the generally don't like arguing with people we they care about (e.g., you). It's much easier for them to say they fell asleep early than to admit they were at a friend's house all night. they're hardwired to avoid conflict — it's their way of keeping things hassle-free. And since girls are pros at verbal arguments, they know that getting into a heated debate with you will be a long, uphill battle — one that they'll never win. So they would rather not even go there.
they are avoiding humiliation
When it comes down to it, guys are pretty fragile creatures. So if they feel like an idiot for some reason, they start making up stories. It's a defense mechanism they use when they're feeling hurt and/or embarrassed. Why did your guy say he was flirting with some girl at a party (when he actually didn't talk to a single girl all night)? Because he saw you chatting up some guy earlier in the evening — and got jealous. A little make-believe flirtation simply makes him feel less like a loser.
they need their space
As much as they like hanging out with you, there are times when they just need to be alone or with our guy friends. But since they don't want to upset you or get into a two-hour discussion about why they don't want to sit through The Notebook for the ninth time, they come up with reasons they "can't." In their book, saying we have a date with Grandma sounds much better than "I need guy time." Agree?
they like you
When a guy's getting to know you, he may think he needs to lie a little to get you to like him. They haven't grasped the fact that people can like each other even without having the same taste in music. (You like Justin Timberlake? Wow, me too!) So later in the relationship, when they feel more comfortable with you and reveal that actually can't stand J.T., please don't be offended. Be flattered.
my advice: always keep your options open. if your in a relationship stay faithful but always have a backup and even if you don't have a backup know that if something were to happen that you could easily bounce back. never rely on a guy and never take anything he says 100% seriously. there is a time and a place to start trusting guys 100% and in most cases if your young its not the time or place. guys will tell you your insecure over and over again .. but in most cases your not, your doing the right thing.
think like a guy, and remember girls have secrets too =)
