i aint worried about josephine

"One day I realized I was living in a country where I was afraid to be black. It was only a country for white people. Not black. So I left. I had been suffocating in the United States... A lot of us left, not because we wanted to leave, but because we couldn't stand it anymore... I felt liberated in Paris."

josephine baker also known as "bronze venus", "black pearl", or "creole goddess" was an African American expatriate entertainer and actress. she was the first African American female to star in a major motion picture, to integrate an American concert hall, and to become a world famous entertainer.
in my opinion she was the first "diva" lol what a word. im watching a biography on her on BET "The Josephine Baker Story". despite my catchy title, i am worried about her, i actually like her a lot. there's something so amazing about women who just leave their native country or state for that matter and travel and rarely come back (as she did), and with her picking paris as her new home .. that says alot.

and this .. really says it all, i agree completely:
"Beautiful? It's all a question of luck. I was born with good legs. As for the rest... beautiful, no. Amusing, yes. " -JB
