last night at the five spot

so yesterday TP and i went to that event i posted a couple of days ago "last night at the five spot" at the international house on UPenn's campus. the funny thing is I thought it was a concert. and i mean technically it kind of was. but it was really a screening of a concert lol. but it was an amazing film by reelblack/captured soul about the concert that took place on the last night that the five spot was open, which is like a lounge in old city that burned down a couple of years ago. apparently it wasn't known by our generation because TP and i were the youngest ones there. yet it was a very great learning experience and we got to hear some amazing raw talent. the film was done very well, letting you feel basically like you were right there watching a concert first hand, with amazing angles and all done in black and white. even though we could have gotten in free id say it was def worth the $10 we paid. the old heads around us that were tipsy off of the free wine they were serving seemed very excited about the film and it was clearly bringing back some great memories that todd and i couldn't really relate too unfortunately. yet i still think we got a good understanding. kindred the family soul was amongst the crowd and afterwards were to record a live CD at the after party at Elenas Soul lounge. we didn't know about the recording but we declined the afterparty.

i wish the five spot was still open, because it really looked like it was a lot of fun.
